Tom holds a B.A. in Sociology from Georgia State University, an M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling
from the University of Georgia and is a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He is also a National Certified Counselor
(NCC), Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC) and a certified facilitator for Insight Learning trainings. Since the early 1990’s,
Tom has worked in diverse settings within the mental health, developmental disability and family and children fields.
His experience includes program start-up and development related to partial hospitalization, day treatment, day habilitation,
workforce reintegration and field-based therapy, evaluation and lab services. Tom has participated in state level stakeholder
meetings and the design of a statewide delivery system for training DHR contracted developmental disability service
providers. During his tenure with Merz Consulting, Inc., Tom conducted hundreds of evaluations and supervised dozens
of clinicians and interns. He also developed a system of lab collection services that continues to operate today through a
multi-state network. Tom is currently in private practice, providing clinical and forensic evaluations
as well as online counseling and psychotherapy.
